The Foreign Ministry stressed that it will continue to pursue a targeted policy of countering the attempts of individual states to undermine the world order enshrined in the UN Charter and to rewrite world history. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
«As one of the founding countries of the UN, Ukraine reaffirms its commitment to the principles of the modern world order laid down in the provisions of the UN Charter. Understanding the importance of ensuring peace in the territories where armed conflicts continue, we are ready to further strengthen our contribution to the establishment of international peace and security as part of UN operations,» the statement said.
Ukraine looks forward to the United Nations joining the Crimean platform.
«In order to protect the norms and principles of international law, Ukraine, together with 46 states and international and regional organizations, on August 23, 2021, created the Crimean platform, a new international format aimed at de-occupying Crimea and countering hybrid aggression by Russia,» the statement stressed.
The Foreign Ministry expects a more active and constructive approach on the part of the UN leadership to counter the ongoing military aggression of Russia against Ukraine.
«Given the role of the UN in the issues of de-occupation of Crimea, in particular in the context of resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the problem of militarization of Crimea and on the protection of human rights in Crimea, Ukraine hopes for the UN to join the Crimean platform,» the statement said.
In addition, it is noted that an extremely important task remains to translate efforts to reform and improve the UN, its strengthening and adaptation to the requirements of our time.
«The organizations of the UN system, in particular the UN Development Programme (UNDP), continue to play an important role in supporting the course of social and economic reforms in Ukraine, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring the protection of human rights and the rule of law,» the Foreign Ministry informs.
It is also noted that one of the most successful examples of cooperation is overcoming the humanitarian consequences of the Russian aggression.
In Ukraine are ready for further cooperation in this area to meet the needs of the affected civilians along the line of separation and in the temporarily occupied territories.
We note that the world community today celebrates the 76th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said on UN Day that the UN Charter has no expiration date and remains relevant for overcoming the global challenges facing humanity today.
