Representatives of the European Union raise the issue of the blocked OSCE mission in occupied Donetsk at meetings of the organization in Vienna and on a bilateral basis with Russia. This in a comment for UNN said the head of the EU mission in Ukraine.
Matti Maasikas stressed that the OSCE is an international organization, which has the ability to provide an international perspective on the conflict in Donbas.
The EU representative noted that the OSCE mission should have "every opportunity to do its work unhindered by its mandate," but at the moment "this is clearly not the case."
"We constantly raise this issue (blocking the work of the mission - ed.), especially in Vienna, where there are discussions in the OSCE, as well as on a bilateral basis with Russia," the head of the EU mission said.
As a reminder, on October 13, Russian armed formations with JCCC armbands carried out reconnaissance of abandoned AFU positions under the cover of demining operations. As a result, an operative group of the AFU detained one of the fighters - a citizen of the Russian Federation Andrey Valentinovich Kosyak, born in 1978. Weapons and ammunition were seized from him.
This citizen, among other things, is suspected by Ukrainian law enforcement of committing a grave crime under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in 2010.
The court in the Luhansk region arrested the militant, who was detained near the line of contact, said the prosecutor's office.
After the detention, "protests" began in front of a hotel in occupied Donetsk, where members of the OSCE mission reside. The protesters prevented any movement of OSCE patrols. The organization partially stopped its observation mission in Donbas.
As of October 20, the work of the OSCE mission observers was still hampered in territories not controlled by the AFU.
