Traffic in the airspace of Ukraine increased by 75.4% in September

In September 2021, air traffic in the airspace of Ukraine increased by 75.4% to 26,241 flights compared to the same period in 2020. This is stated in the message of the State Enterprise of Air Traffic Services («UkSATSE»).

«In September 2021, UkSATSE provided 26,241 flights with air navigation services, which is 76% of the pre-crisis volume of September 2019. This level of air traffic has been maintained for two months, since August this year,» it said.

According to UkSATSE head Andriy Yarmak, the revival of traffic in the skies over Ukraine is a combination of several factors: seasonality of demand for air transportation, adoption of new realities and rules of travel by air passengers and the result of systematic work with air carriers to use transit potential airspace of the country.

It is noted that the number of domestic flights between the airports of Ukraine in August and September exceeded the evidence. Yarmak also noted that the dynamics of air traffic recovery in Ukraine was ahead of the European region.

According to the report, Ukrainian airlines performed 9,614 flights in September 2021 (11.1% less than in September 2019), foreign airlines – 16,627 flights (down 41.5%). At the same time, the number of domestic flights in September 2021 compared to September 2019 increased by 14.5% to 3,112 flights, international flights decreased by 12.6% to 13,728 flights, transit – by 41.5% to 9,401 flights.

In 2020, air traffic in the airspace of Ukraine decreased by 57.6% to 142,047 flights compared to 2019.
