Georgy Zakarashvili appointed Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine

Georgia has appointed Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Sweden and Mexico.

Georgy Zakarashvili, who was recently the director of the political department of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, has been appointed ambassador to Ukraine since October 1 this year.

It is known that Zakarashvili has held various positions in the diplomatic service since 2004. In 2016-2019, he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Georgian Interest Section to the Swiss Embassy in Russia, and in 2007-2011 he was a Senior Counselor. Zakarashvili has already held the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine in 2012-2016.

September 2019. In the spring of 2020, he was recalled from Kyiv for consultations due to the position of official Tbilisi on the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. Teimuraz Sharashenidze returned to his post in Kyiv almost a year later, in April 2021.
