As of today, Russian Gazprom has started supplying gas to Hungary by passing the territory of Ukraine. According to GTS Operator Serhiy Makogon, "Gazprom's monopolization of gas routes raises questions about the basic principles of the EU's gas markets - competitiveness and transparency."
The statement of the head of the department is posted on the website of the GTS Operator.
According to Makogon, Hungary has been receiving gas through Ukraine for decades, and the Ukrainian side has never violated its obligations.
"Moreover, the Ukrainian route is the most cost-effective because it is the shortest way to supply gas to Hungary, as evidenced by the volume of trade between companies in both countries in recent years," he said.
"Strengthening the dominance of one player and his use of leverage for apparently political purposes amid the shocking rise in gas prices in Europe must be stopped"
It will be recalled that Russia's Gazprom began supplying gas to Hungary on October 1 on a long-term counter act.
