Metropolitan of Sviatohirsk Lavra is sent to custody for 2 months without bail

The court sent Metropolitan Arseniy of the Sviatohirsk Lavra (UOC) to custody for 2 months without the right to be released on bail. This was reported by the press service of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.


He is suspected of passing on to the Russians data on the location of the Armed Forces checkpoints in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region. As previously reported by the SBU, he did this during the liturgy, which was filmed and published on the Lavra's website.

 

It is alleged that in this way, the suspect "tried to disguisedly leak to the aggressor the locations of Ukrainian checkpoints in the frontline area."


The Metropolitan is suspected under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Under this article, he faces up to 8 years in prison.
