Ukraine and Russia held another exchange of prisoners, killed warriors returned

On Tuesday, June 28, another prisoner exchange took place between Ukraine and Russia. The exchange took place according to the formula 17 to 15.

 

This is reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

 

Sixteen Ukrainian servicemen, including two officers and 14 soldiers, are returning from Russian captivity. One civilian was also released from captivity.

 

"Five of those released are seriously wounded and in need of urgent treatment," the department said.

 

Also 46 of our fallen defenders were returned.

"In Zaporizhzhya region held another operation to return the bodies of dead Ukrainian servicemen. Ukraine returned the bodies of 46 heroic defenders to their homeland for a dignified burial. Of these, 21 were defenders of Azovstal," the report said.

 

The department adds that the operation was carried out with the cooperation of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the State Security Service of the Ministry of Defense, the SBU, the General Staff of the AFU and other security agencies of Ukraine.

 

Recall that before that, the last exchange of bodies between Ukraine and the Russian Federation took place on June 21. Then the Ukrainian side returned home 35 of its dead soldiers.

 

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration Iryna Vereshchuk said that over 1,500 Ukrainian civilians were held in Russian prisons.
