China's representatives will not attend the summit on Ukraine in Switzerland. This was reported to Reuters by four sources familiar with the matter.
Beijing rejected the invitation because its key condition was not met - the participation of both Ukraine and Russia in the summit.
Among other conditions, China demanded a “fair discussion of all proposals.”
This probably refers to the Chinese settlement plan, which provides for negotiations without the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.
Later, China officially confirmed that it would not attend the peace summit in Switzerland.
“The plan of the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland is at odds with China's demands and expectations of peace, so it is difficult for Beijing to participate in such a meeting,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
