The fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, has called on the German authorities not to financially support Ukrainian men of military age who have left. This was reported by DW.
“Those who have the opportunity to return should return,” said the ex-president, who attended the congress of the ruling Christian Democratic Union in Berlin.
At the same time, Poroshenko doubted that the actions of Ukraine or Germany could affect the position of Ukrainian men who refuse to return home.
“But I strongly recommend (Germany) in relation to these people - men who are here and who refuse to return to Ukraine: please stop funding this and immediately start providing this money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the former head of the Ukrainian state said.
