The National Bank predicts a sharp and significant increase in electricity tariffs in Ukraine. This is stated in the NBU's Inflation Report.
“It is expected that tariffs for utility services will be gradually brought to economically reasonable levels over several years,” the document says.
The need to raise tariffs is justified by the state of the Ukrainian energy sector after Russian shelling.
According to the NBU experts, the increase in electricity tariffs will be rapid and significant, which will put additional pressure on prices and the need to increase subsidies for the population.
For his part, Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center, believes that the electricity tariff will be increased this summer. The tariff may increase from 2.68 UAH/kW to 3.50 UAH/kW.
“If the increase takes place, it should be consistent. Currently, the tariff is UAH 2.68/kW, and in June-July we can expect an increase to UAH 3.50/kW,” Omelchenko said.
At the same time, in his opinion, the tariff should eventually reach UAH 6/kW.
