Almost 40 thousand evaders are wanted in Ivano-Frankivsk region alone, - Deputy Head of the TCC

Almost 40 thousand people are wanted by the police for draft evasion in Ivano-Frankivsk region alone. This was reported by Roman Bodnar, deputy head of the regional TCC, in an interview with Zakhidnyi Kuryer.

"We already have the Oberig system in place, where the data of about 90% of conscripts are recorded. All these people are officially wanted by the police. As of December 2023, we had 36,000 such people in the region. This year, another three thousand citizens were added to the database," Bodnar said.

He said that the police have the right to detain all these citizens and forcibly take them to the TCC as administrative detention, so he urges "not to be surprised" when citizens are forcibly mobilized on the street after checking their documents.

Bodnar also said that MPs are deliberately delaying the adoption of the draft law on mobilization. According to him, this document is unpopular.

"It is obvious that there is a deliberate delay in the adoption of this law, because we have been waiting for changes since July 2022. The law is unpopular, and members of the Verkhovna Rada are primarily politicians," said Bodnar.

He said that what the TCC expects most from the new draft law is that conscripted citizens will come to military registration and enlistment offices themselves, instead of the latter running after them. He noted that this is difficult both physically and mentally. According to Bodnar, the TCC provides a full range of support for conscripts from the moment of conscription to the organization of the funeral if they are killed.

"We recruit a person, we train them, and if, God forbid, something happens, we inform the family about it, we look them in the eye. Every employee of the TCC understands that he or she is fully responsible for the citizen to whom he or she serves the summons," he emphasized and noted that TCC employees may feel moral guilt for fulfilling their duties.

As a result, the main point expected from the new law is to regulate the issue of the man's arrival at the TCC to clarify the data. Currently, according to Ukrainian law, this process takes place only at the call of the TCC, and therefore it provokes "running around" and conflicts.
