Russia uses American satellite images to launch missile strikes on Ukraine - The Atlantic

Russia can launch missile strikes on Ukraine using American satellite images. The Atlantic writes about this with reference to a Ukrainian anonymous source.

The source notes that a satellite takes pictures of a certain place, and a few days or weeks later a missile falls there. Sometimes another satellite is sent to take additional images, perhaps to check the extent of the damage.

"The number of coincidences where images are followed by hits is too high to be coincidental," this source said.

The publication's investigation confirms this trend. Before the strikes, locations are repeatedly requested that, apart from military targets, are of little value.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry believes that Russia "buys satellite images through third-party companies" from American companies. And buying such images is "easier than you think," The Atlantic notes.
