Ukraine risks losing territories without US support - CIA

Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency William Burns said that Ukraine risks losing new territories in 2024 if Washington does not approve the extension of military aid. He said this during a hearing in the Senate.

According to Burns, without additional support, Ukraine risks losing "significant positions."

"Without additional assistance, you will see more Avdiivka in 2024. And that, I think, would be a huge and historic mistake for the United States," Burns said.

Burns acknowledged that Russian President Vladimir Putin has "demonstrated a high tolerance" for the economic damage from sanctions and political risks due to the heavy losses in the war.

The CIA director also noted that the US refusal to help Ukraine would not only call into question allies in the Indo-Pacific region, but also strengthen the ambitions of the communist regime in China.
