Biden considers the possibility of allocating $200 million from Pentagon reserves to help Ukraine

The administration of US President Joe Biden is considering the possibility of using about $200 million of US military funding to provide operational assistance to Ukraine. This was reported by Bloomberg.

The publication says that, according to people familiar with the matter, the Biden administration is considering whether it can allocate about $200 million from US Army funding to provide immediate support to Ukraine, as a larger aid package remains blocked in Congress.

As noted, these funds could be used to provide critical weapons, supplies and other equipment as Ukraine faces a shortage of artillery shells, and this comes as Russian troops have made slow advances in recent weeks.

"Discussions of using the Pentagon's small number of reserves highlight the White House's frantic efforts to find any possible support for Ukraine. But the possible funding is minuscule compared to the more than $61 billion in aid to Ukraine that President Joe Biden has requested from Congress," the report said.
