Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova has said that Russia is ready to hand over to the Ukrainian side the bodies of prisoners of war who died during the crash of an Il-76 in the Belgorod region on January 24. This was reported by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
"Everything necessary in terms of procedure is available for this..... The bodies can be transferred in accordance with the existing procedures," the report said.
She also noted that she is in contact with representatives of Ukraine regarding this case and that the Ukrainian side has expressed interest in transferring the bodies.
Moskalkova also said that she was discussing the matter with the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets and that she had already answered all questions about the incident.
"As for the bodies, I immediately informed that we have confirmation and all the DNA, which, according to the expert opinion, allows us to identify the person," Moskalkova said.
