Macron allows sending Western troops to Ukraine

Emmanuel Macron did not rule out sending Western troops to Ukraine, but noted that there is no consensus among the allies so far. The French president said this at a press conference after the summit of Ukraine's allies at the Elysee Palace.

"I will not remove the ambiguity of today's debate by naming names. I am saying that this issue was raised as one of the options. Many people who say today: "Never," were the same people who said two years ago, "No tanks, no planes, no long-range missiles," he said.

Macron did not say more about France's position on the issue, citing "strategic uncertainty."

The French leader said that Ukraine's allies will do "everything possible to prevent Russia from winning this war." The French president noted that the allies "are not at war with the Russian people" but "simply do not want to let them win in Ukraine."

He also said that partner countries and allies will create a coalition to supply Ukraine with medium and long-range missiles.

"Over the next ten days, we are going to make all these efforts because we have looked at many European and non-European countries that have munitions," Macron said.

The French president also called on Europeans to "produce more" of the relevant weapons.

In addition, according to him, representatives of the vast majority of countries at the special summit in Paris spoke about the need to be ready for a possible Russian attack in a few years.
