Speaker of the US House of Representatives said that the bill on aid to Ukraine may fail

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson has criticized the Senate-supported bill on $95 billion aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. In a statement published on social media network X, he warned that the initiative could fail in the House of Representatives.

"Ten months ago, the House of Representatives acted to help enact transformative policy changes by passing the Secure Our Borders Act, and since then the Senate has failed to do what is necessary. Last week, the Senate did the right thing by rejecting the package on Ukraine, Taiwan, Gaza, Israel, and immigration because of insufficient border provisions and should have gone back to drafting the current bill to include real border security provisions that would truly help end the ongoing disaster," Johnson said.

According to him, the current Senate bill "says nothing about the most urgent issue" - the protection of the US borders.

"Without any changes in border policy from the Senate, the House of Representatives will be forced to continue to work on these important issues on its own," Johnson added.

It should be noted that today the US Senate continued consideration of the bill on aid to Ukraine and Israel: it was decided to bring it to the final vote, which may take place on February 14.
