New draft law on mobilization may be adopted in the first reading this week - Korniyenko

First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniyenko believes that the new draft law on mobilization No. 10449 will be adopted in the first reading this week, Ukrinform reports.

"This week, there is a high probability that the parliament will consider this bill, as well as all alternative ones," he said at a briefing.

Korniyenko emphasized that the draft law "has changed after the revision, but there are still several positions in it that cause lively discussions."

Among these controversial provisions is the issue of so-called "electronic summonses" (a provision that regulates the obligation of a citizen to register an electronic account of a conscript, person liable for military service, or reservist to whom a summons will be sent).

"It is obvious that many amendments will be proposed for the second reading, as this is a controversial draft law, but we will all seek understanding," emphasized Korniyenko.

According to him, the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence intends to propose shortening the period for consideration of amendments to the draft law.

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted a new version of the draft law on mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada on January 30.
