Large-scale protests in Slovakia: 30 thousand participants in Bratislava demand changes in Fico's government

On Thursday, protests against the government of Robert Fico were held again in more than 30 cities in Slovakia, with the largest rally in the capital Bratislava gathering 30,000 participants. This is reported by the Dennik N.

The action, which took place on February 1, is the seventh nationwide protest wave, and in Bratislava it was defined as the largest of all the previous ones. The organizers were opposition political forces, and civil society organizations also joined in.

The protests covered 32 cities in Slovakia and eight locations abroad. The record 30,000 participants in Bratislava is the largest number since the beginning of the mass protests. Among the speakers at the rally were the parents of the murdered investigative journalist Jan Kuciak, whose death caused mass protests and Fico's resignation from the post of prime minister.

The protesters demanded that the controversial amendments to the criminal code be abandoned, criticizing the ruling coalition for ignoring the debate and violating their constitutional rights.
