At next week's summit, European Union leaders will reach an agreement on a €50 billion aid package for Ukraine in 2024-2027. This will be done with or without Hungary. This was stated by Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs, Bloomberg reports.

Rinkēvičs said that the package for Kyiv will be formalized either as an agreement with all 27 member states or through "another mechanism" that will work if unanimity is not reached.

"One thing is absolutely clear - Ukraine needs this money, Ukraine must get this money, and the European Union must provide it," Rinkēvičs said.

Expressing hope that a consensus among all member states could be reached, Rinkēvičs said other proposals include a mechanism that would provide funds in tranches, an option "that can be negotiated."
