Black Sea demining: Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania sign an agreement

On Thursday, January 11, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania signed an agreement on the joint fight against sea mines that threaten shipping in the Black Sea, including the transportation of grain from Ukraine. This was reported by AP.

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Güler noted that the agreement provides for the creation of a special group to counter mines between the three NATO member states to combat molten mines.

"We have jointly decided to sign a protocol between the three countries to more effectively combat the mine threat in the Black Sea by improving our existing close cooperation and coordination," Güler said at a press conference in Istanbul with Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar and Bulgarian Deputy Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov.

Güler also expressed the possibility of other countries joining the operation after the end of hostilities.

The initiative of the three countries is aimed at ensuring the safety of shipping, in particular for ships transporting grain from Ukraine.
