Israel expresses readiness for a new temporary cessation of hostilities against Hamas in exchange for the release of hostages remaining in the Gaza Strip. This was stated by President Isaac Herzog, The Times of Israel reports.
According to the publication, Herzog met with ambassadors and diplomats from more than 80 countries to discuss the current situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The president told the ambassadors that Israel is ready to conclude a new agreement to release the hostages and described the humanitarian efforts being made by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
"I can confirm that Israel is ready for another humanitarian pause and additional humanitarian aid to ensure the release of the hostages," the Israeli president said.
He also emphasized that full responsibility for the situation in the Gaza Strip lies with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and the militant leadership. Intelligence reports point to Sinwar as one of the main organizers of the October 7 terrorist attack.
