Russia continues to advance on the Kupyansk, Lyman and Bakhmut directions. This was reported by the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, who published a report on the situation at the front.
Russian forces focused their main efforts on the Bakhmut direction. To conduct assault operations, they are using the most combat-ready units of airborne troops, marines and "Storm Z" and "Storm V" units formed from former criminals. According to Syrskyi, the enemy's goal in this area is to attack Chasiv Yar, then Kostyantynivka, Druzhkivka, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk with further reaching the borders of Donetsk region.
On the Lyman direction, Russian troops have started constant attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Makiivka and Terny. Fighting continues in the Siverskyi direction.
Daily assault actions by Russian troops in the area of Synkivka to capture and create a foothold for further attack on the city of Kupyansk do not stop.
"The situation is difficult. We have to fight in the conditions of the enemy's superiority both in weapons and in the number of personnel," wrote Oleksandr Syrskyi.
The general also announced the losses of the Russians. In the first half of December, the enemy lost about eight thousand soldiers in the area of responsibility of the "Khortytsia" military unit. In addition, more than five hundred pieces of enemy military equipment were destroyed or damaged. Among them: 67 tanks, over a hundred armored combat vehicles, 77 cannons and mortars of various calibers.
