Israel considers reducing the intensity of the military operation at the request of the United States

Israel may, at the request of the United States, reduce the intensity of the military operation in the Gaza Strip and stop full-scale hostilities. This was reported by The New York Times.

This follows from statements made by President Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who is on a visit to Israel.

He said that the next phase of the war would focus more on attacks on Hamas's senior leadership and on intelligence-based operations.

At the same time, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the day before that the campaign against Hamas would last "more than a few months."

"There is no contradiction between the statement that the struggle will last for months and the statement that different phases will take place at different times during those months, including the transition from high-intensity operations to more targeted operations," Sullivan commented.

He emphasizes that Washington voices, but does not impose its vision on Israel.
