Israel has begun an invasion of the southern part of the Gaza Strip, AFP reports, citing eyewitnesses.


According to them, "dozens" of Israeli tanks, armored personnel carriers and bulldozers advanced deep into the Gaza Strip near the city of Khan Younis and reached the Salah ad-Din highway, which runs through the entire Strip, connecting its northern and southern parts.


Western media had written about the preparation of such an offensive the day before.
