An air alert will not be declared due to the takeoff of a Russian MiG-31 if there is accurate information that it does not pose a threat, Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat told RBC-Ukraine.

"Our western partners in NATO countries are trying to inform us as quickly and fully as possible about this or that MiG-31K flight. We also have our intelligence. But there is not always information whether it is flying with or without a missile, whether it is just a flight, whether it is a combat flight, or just a training flight. If there is accurate information that the MiG-31K does not pose a threat, then, of course, no alarm will be raised," the speaker said.

At the same time, Ihnat noted that it is not always possible to determine whether an enemy aircraft is taking off with weapons or not, so an air raid is announced in such cases.

Regarding President Volodymyr Zelensky's instruction to find a solution so that several hours of MiG flights do not paralyze the whole of Ukraine, Ihnat said that this issue is not entirely up to the Air Force.

"The Air Force will continue to inform about the threat through MiGs and provide this information to the operational officer on duty of the State Emergency Service in Kyiv, who, in fact, launches the alert system. At the same time, the government has instructed the relevant ministries and agencies to develop a decision on how to respond to MiG-31K flights. I cannot say what this decision will be. We will continue to inform about the threat," the representative summarized.

He added that currently, enemy MiGs most often take off from three main airfields - Savasleyka, Mozdok and Akhtubinsk.
