Ministry of Internal Affairs: 10 people died, 23 were injured due to bad weather in Ukraine

The bad weather that has hit Ukraine has killed 10 people and injured 23 others, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said. According to him, there are children among the victims.


"As a result of severe weather conditions, 10 people died in Odesa, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions. 23 people were injured, including two children. Disaster relief headquarters have been set up at the national and regional levels," Klymenko said.


He added that as of today, eight highways in Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad regions remain closed to traffic. At the same time, 411 settlements in 11 regions are still without electricity.


Klymenko also noted that in Odesa region alone, SES units were called to help 254 times. In particular, 849 cars were towed there, including 24 buses and 17 emergency vehicles. In addition, 2498 people were helped in Odesa region, including 162 children. Reverse traffic was organized on sections of the M-05 and M-15 highways.


Rescuers were called 66 times in Mykolaiv region. They towed 144 cars there. Traffic is still hampered on some road sections.
