Negotiations on the release of hostages taken during the Hamas attack on Israel are at the "closest point" to an agreement and have reached the "final stage." This was announced on Tuesday, November 21, by Qatar's Foreign Ministry representative Majed Al-Ansari, Arab News reports.
"We are at the closest point to reaching an agreement," the spokesman said, adding that the negotiations have reached a "critical and final stage."
It is noted that it was Qatar that helped organize the negotiations aimed at releasing the hostages taken by Hamas militants in exchange for a temporary ceasefire.
"We are very optimistic, very hopeful, but we are also very interested in this mediation helping to achieve a humanitarian truce," said the Qatari Foreign Ministry representative.
He added that there are many "leaks" of statements about the release of hostages, but stressed that he considers it necessary to keep them until a final decision on the deal is made.
