If the Polish authorities fail to solve the problem of blocking border crossings with Ukraine, the European Commission may take punitive measures against Poland. This was reported by the Polish publication RMF FM with reference to sources in Brussels.

According to the source, the EC demands compliance with the current EU legislation, which provides for the passage of cargo transport from Ukraine without restrictions.

"Some in the European Commission believe that the Polish authorities are not doing everything to solve the problem and stop the protest of Polish carriers. Brussels is clearly losing patience," RMF FM writes.

The journalists note that Brussels does not give official comments, according to their information, negotiations with Poland and Ukraine are ongoing.

"The European Commission is still in contact with the authorities of both countries, we cannot comment on possible measures as the negotiations are ongoing," said an EC representative.

The publication's own sources said that the EU is considering opening a case on the violation of the provision on liberalization of EU trade with Ukraine by the Polish authorities. Currently, the European Commission is studying the legal grounds for launching the procedure, the article says.
