The court recognized the 2016 nationalization of Privatbank as legal and closed the case. The Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court of 2019, which, following a lawsuit filed by Ihor Kolomoisky, declared the actions of state bodies regarding nationalization to be illegal and canceled them. This is reported by the NBU.

The court ruled that it was impossible to return PrivatBank to its former owners, as they had sought. The NBU reports that the state spent more than UAH 155 billion to recapitalize the bank.

"Today, after 6 years, the court confirmed the impossibility of returning PrivatBank to its former owners, for which the state spent more than UAH 155 billion on additional capitalization. It should also be noted that all decisions of state authorities on the nationalization of PrivatBank are valid," said Viktor Hryhorchuk, Head of the Claims and Litigation Department of the NBU Legal Department.

As a reminder, Ihor Kolomoisky is currently in custody. One of the cases concerns the withdrawal of about UAH 15 billion from PrivatBank.
