Without the approval of a new large-scale aid package for Ukraine in Congress, the US's options are diminishing every week. This was stated by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan during a press briefing in Washington, Ukrinform reports.

"This is already affecting our ability to give Ukraine everything it needs. And this effect will only increase over time," the adviser said.

Sullivan emphasized that the US Congress should approve the president's request, which includes aid to Ukraine and Israel, as soon as possible, as it directly affects US national interests.

According to him, the Biden administration has sent a request for funding for Israel, Ukraine, the Indo-Pacific region, and border security: "We have described in detail everything we need, including for Ukraine, and we still need it, we need it as soon as possible."

He emphasized that the government is actively working with Republicans and Democrats in both houses of the US Congress to ensure support for this initiative.

In this context, he noted that both chambers have strong majorities to pass the US President's request. According to him, "the national interests of the United States will be severely harmed if we cannot provide stable funding for Israel, Ukraine, the Indo-Pacific region and the border."

Sullivan also warned Congress against bringing the situation to a government shutdown, which threatens the country after October 17. He emphasized that such a development could be a "devastating blow" primarily to the American military, which protects US national security interests.

In addition, he said, a potential "shutdown" would send a signal to the international community "that the United States cannot unite on a bipartisan basis." This is especially important at a time when the world is experiencing turbulence, in particular because of Russia's war against Ukraine and Israel's fight against Hamas terrorists.
