John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator of the US National Security Council, said that about 96% of the funds allocated from the US budget to help Ukraine have already been used. All new requests to Congress for funding for Ukraine are being blocked by Republicans in the House of Representatives, and the allocated money is running out.
"If you look at the total amount of money that has been provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, which is over $60 billion, and that's not just security assistance, it's economic, financial and humanitarian assistance, we've used about 96% of what's left," John Kirby said at a White House briefing on November 8.
Blinken spoke about the US plan to support Ukraine. It consists of three points According to him, less than 10% of the funds allocated for defense purposes remain. Therefore, he called on the US Congress to approve a request for additional assistance for Ukraine.
"The Ministry of Defense has up to about $1.1 billion to replenish stocks for the winter. So that runway is getting shorter, and so we need to approve this additional request," Kirby said.
