Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, are conducting searches on the fact of illegal transportation of a citizen abroad, which may involve a member of the Ukrainian parliament. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation. According to the investigation, in collusion with others, the people's deputy organized the illegal departure abroad of his civilian wife's brother.
A relative of the defendant's partner tried to leave the territory of Ukraine for the Republic of Moldova by car through one of the checkpoints.
As a basis for crossing the state border, the man provided documents entered into the "Shlyakh" system. It was an extract from the order of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration on the departure of drivers who carry out transportation for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other formations.
It was established that the citizen received the documents at the request of the Vyshhorod District Military Administration on the basis of a petition from the non-governmental organization "Media Defense". He later testified that he was not aware of the activities of this organization.
According to the deputy's instructions, the man was to arrive in Chisinau and wait there for further instructions to drive the MP's personal luxury car from the parking lot of the local international airport to Vienna.
The Prosecutor General opened criminal proceedings on the grounds of an offense under Part 2 of Art. 332 (organization of illegal transportation across the state border committed by a member of the Parliament in prior conspiracy with other persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to seven years.
In connection with the crime, law enforcement officers are conducting seven simultaneous searches at the premises of the public organization, its head and founders, their places of residence, as well as other persons involved in organizing the illegal crossing.
According to the SBU, it was established that the MP organized a whole scheme of illegal departure abroad of men of military age. He used a controlled public organization to enter the "right people" into the "Shlyakh" system, allegedly as volunteers.
Earlier, the media reported that law enforcement officers were conducting searches at the home of MP Oleksandr Dubinsky.
