The Israel Defense Forces are conducting a ground operation in the Gaza Strip and have engaged in combat with Hamas militants in underground tunnels. This was reported by the IDF press service on Tuesday, October 31.
According to the commander of the Southern Group of Israeli forces, Yaron Finkelman, whose soldiers are conducting a ground operation in Gaza, the army is "striking at Hamas and terrorist organizations" in the enclave.
"Our soldiers are now fighting bravely and courageously on the battlefield. Fierce battles are being fought to defeat the terrorists, and soldiers are also engaged in one-on-one combat," he said.
The IDF representative noted that the soldiers will fight in alleys and tunnels, that is, "wherever it is necessary."
