In addition to Vinnytsia, cases of viral hepatitis A have been detected in five more communities - RMA

In addition to Vinnytsia, cases of viral hepatitis A have been detected in five other communities. This was reported on Facebook by the Department of Health and Rehabilitation of the Vinnytsia RMA.




"The number of cases of hepatitis A is increasing. Single cases of the disease have been registered in other territorial communities of Vinnytsia region. Hepatitis was detected in Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Khmilnyk, Kalynivka, Haisyn and Kozyatyn," the statement said.


According to the department, patients are in the infectious diseases departments of medical institutions in these communities.


It is noted that currently most patients with viral hepatitis A are hospitalized at the Clinical Center for Infectious Diseases: 89 people with a confirmed diagnosis and 12 people with suspected cases. The city clinical hospital has one patient with a confirmed diagnosis and one with a suspected diagnosis. In the children's regional infectious diseases hospital, 23 children were hospitalized with a confirmed diagnosis and three with suspected cases.


The condition of all patients is currently assessed as moderate.


As previously reported, the team of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine together with the Chief State Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin worked in Vinnytsia over the past weekend to investigate possible causes of the hepatitis A outbreak in the region. The results of the epidemic investigations point to at least four possible sources of infection.
