The daughter of the main ideologue of the "Russian world" Daria Dugina was eliminated by the Security Service of Ukraine by planting explosives in an animal transportation cage. This was reported by The Washington Post, citing sources.
According to the publication, four weeks before the explosion of the car Dugina was in, Ukrainian operatives installed a secret compartment in a cat cage that was being transported in another "cluttered car by a mother and her 12-year-old daughter" and hid the bomb components there.
A month later, on August 20, 2022, the device detonated near Moscow in an SUV driven by Alexander Dugin's daughter. According to WP, the operation was organized by the SBU.
The publication calls the attack "part of Ukraine's raging shadow war," citing the bombing of the Crimean bridge and attacks on Russian ships in the Black Sea. According to WP, Ukrainian intelligence services have been developing capabilities for such operations since Russia's first invasion in 2014.
According to current and former officials from Ukraine and the United States, elite teams of Ukrainian operatives "formed, trained, and equipped in close partnership with the CIA" took part in the missions. At the same time, the US intelligence community emphasized that the agency did not participate in "targeted assassination operations" and focuses on intelligence gathering.
"We have too many enemies that are more important to neutralize. People who launch missiles. The people who committed the atrocities in Bucha," an unnamed Ukrainian senior security official told the publication, calling Dugina's elimination "very cynical."
According to WP, over the past 20 months, the SBU and GUR have organized "dozens of murders" of Russian officials in the occupied territories, alleged collaborators, officers behind the front line, and known supporters of the war in the Russian rear, including propagandist Vladlen Tatarsky.
