Israel intends to change its approach to security in the Gaza Strip after the threat from the Hamas group is eliminated. This was announced by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant at a meeting of the Knesset Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense in Tel Aviv, The Times of Israel reports.
The head of the Israeli defense ministry presented the country's military goals and a description of future actions.
According to him, it is planned to conduct military operations in three main stages.
The first stage includes active combat operations using military aircraft and ground maneuvers to destroy militants and their infrastructure in order to destroy Hamas.
In the second stage, the fighting will continue, but its intensity will decrease as Israeli forces work to eliminate pockets of resistance.
The third stage involves the creation of a new "security regime" in the Gaza Strip to revise Israel's responsibility for daily life in the region and to ensure new security conditions for Israeli citizens and the world.
