Three Ukrainian children illegally taken to Russia will be handed over to Qatari diplomats in Moscow this week under a mechanism created by Qatar to return a significant number of children abducted by Russia to Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters.
In addition, on Friday, Qatar assisted in the return of another 7-year-old Ukrainian child who reunited with his grandmother and is traveling to Ukraine via Estonia, the official said.
Now, 2-year-old and 9-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl are returning to Ukraine. Qatari diplomats will accompany the children before they return to Ukraine.
The Qatari official claims that the return of the first four children is the result of a system established by Qatar after months of negotiations with Kyiv and Moscow.
Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwa Al-Khater confirmed her country's role in the process and called this week's return "just the first step."
