Estonia is prepared to lose EU funding if Ukraine joins the Union

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has expressed her country's readiness for a possible loss of funding from the European Union's Solidarity Fund in the event of Ukraine's accession to the EU. This was reported by The Financial Times.

According to Kallas, Estonia understands that in the long run, the conditions for access to EU funds intended to support the economies of less developed members of the Union may change. However, the Prime Minister noted that these changes will not happen instantly.

"Eventually, it will happen, but not immediately," Kallas said.

The Estonian Prime Minister also called on other member states to start working on budget reforms that would allow the Union to accept new countries.
