IDF advises Palestinians to leave Gaza, and Egypt will allow no more than 2000 refugees per day

The Israeli army is advising Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip and go to Egypt. This was stated by Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht in a conversation with foreign journalists, The Times of Israel reports.

"The Rafah crossing is still open. Anyone who can get out, I would advise them to leave," said Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht.

It is worth noting that earlier the media, citing a high-ranking Egyptian source, reported that Egypt does not want to accept refugees from the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian authorities warned against calls for civilians in the Gaza Strip to leave the enclave en masse.

"Cairo's vision was clear when it warned of the gravity of the situation and its implications for the principles of the Palestinian problem... calls for a peaceful outcome to leave Gaza without a population, thereby contributing to the elimination of the Palestinian problem itself," a senior source was quoted as saying.

The media also reported that the Egyptian authorities, despite the ongoing active hostilities in Gaza and significant destruction, will allow no more than 2,000 residents of the Strip per day to cross into Egyptian territory through the Rafah border crossing. At the same time, Cairo reported that the Rafah border crossing will continue to operate.
