Ukraine is ready to raise utility prices on the recommendation of the United States, - Minister of Social Policy

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is ready to raise utility prices, according to the recommendations received from the United States. This was stated by Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych during a telethon on September 26.

Zholnovych emphasized that the main idea of this reform is to increase gas and electricity tariffs while balancing price increases with subsidies for citizens whose utility costs exceed 15% of their income.

"Yes, we are ready for this. We have already developed a digital tool that will be fully operational in November," the Minister said.

This tool, which will start functioning in November, will automatically notify citizens of their eligibility for a subsidy. Next year, the budget will allocate about UAH 50 billion for these purposes.

"I hope that we will have enough money because it is significantly more than last year to cover all the requests and help our people with low incomes to survive the winter and possible utility bill increases," Zholnovych added.

As a reminder, the government decree has frozen tariffs until the end of martial law.
