In Bulgaria, farmers and owners of processing enterprises have brought heavy machinery to transport junctions to protest the parliament's decision not to extend the ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine after September 15. This was reported by Forbes Bulgaria.
As a result of the objections, many roads have been blocked, and representatives of 26 industry organizations have announced an indefinite nationwide protest.
The protesters are demanding a continuation of the ban on imports of sunflower, wheat, corn and rapeseed from Ukraine, as well as a ban on imports of unrefined oil, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, milk and dairy products, meat and meat products, live animals, honey and bee products from Ukraine, and tighter control over the origin, quality and safety of agricultural products imported into the country.
The farmers' community also demands that the full amount of compensation for increased production costs due to the war in Ukraine be paid to farmers by September 30 this year and that restrictions on the amount of aid be lifted, as well as that state aid be immediately paid to compensate farmers who have completely uncultivated land.
