At the moment, the General Staff does not require women medics to be directly involved in combat operations on the front line. It is only about registering them with the military enlistment office. This information was announced by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar during a telethon discussing the issue of military registration of women doctors.
Malyar emphasized that registration does not mean automatic mobilization. The Deputy Defense Minister noted that women on the front line do so of their own free will.
"This is a rule that applies to women with medical education. Let me remind you that it was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, it is on the level of law. The General Staff assured us then and now that they do not need women of these specialties directly at the front, and I will remind you that registration does not mean mobilization. This is the first thing. Secondly, we do not have women at the front without their consent. That is, even if a woman is a servicewoman, the 5,000 who are on the front line are women who agreed to it," said Malyar.
Last year, the Verkhovna Rada adopted amendments to the law on mobilization training and mobilization, according to which women with medical or pharmaceutical specialties are subject to mandatory military registration.
