Finance Minister Sergiy Marchenko has announced that the government forecasts the dollar to hryvnia exchange rate at UAH 41.4 next year. He made this statement during a meeting with the European Business Association "EBA Global Outlook", Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"We are concerned about the strengthening of the hryvnia. We do not have any fundamental factors for this. This is a disadvantage that we are communicating with the NBU and the IMF. This is a disadvantage for exporters. Next year, we expect the exchange rate to be 41.4 UAH/$1," the minister said.
The projected rate refers to the average annual rate, which is the guideline of the Ministry of Economy and other competent authorities.
Marchenko also expressed concern that exports are not growing, while imports are increasing.
It should be noted that the National Bank of Ukraine has recently maintained a fixed official hryvnia exchange rate of 36.57 UAH/USD since July 2022. On the cash currency market, the exchange rate has stabilized at around 38 UAH/USD this year, while last year it exceeded 39 UAH/USD.
