In the near future, the United States will provide Ukraine with assets seized from Russian oligarchs, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said at a press conference in Kyiv.

"In addition to Ukraine's security needs, we are for the first time transferring to Ukraine assets confiscated from Russian oligarchs who have been sanctioned, which will now be used to support Ukrainian veterans," the head of the State Department said.

He also noted that those who actively supported Russian President Vladimir Putin's actions in unleashing the war should be held accountable for its consequences.

The Secretary of State did not disclose details about the specific assets that will be transferred to Kyiv, but the amount is $5.4 million. It is worth noting that the United States has frozen Russian assets totaling $330 billion.
