Mandatory military registration for women doctors: the People's Deputy explains

Women with medical or pharmaceutical specialties are now subject to mandatory military registration. This was announced by People's Deputy Fedir Venislavsky, who said that starting from October 1 this year, representatives of these professions will have to report to the military registration and enlistment office and undergo the relevant procedures.

If their health condition allows them to serve in the armed forces, they will receive the status of persons liable for military service and will be registered in the military.

"The adopted law actually gave a year to develop the relevant subordinate legal acts. During this time, the Cabinet of Ministers prepared a resolution, and the Ministry of Defense issued an order introducing mandatory military registration of women in medical and pharmaceutical specialties from October 1 this year," the People's Deputy noted.

Venislavsky emphasized that this step is not new or unusual, as women with medical education are usually drafted for military service in the former USSR and Western countries.

Venislavsky also reminded that women who hold positions related to military specialties can also register for military service if they wish.

The People's Deputy assured that the Verkhovna Rada is not currently considering expanding the list of professions for which women are required to be registered in the military register.
