BILD military observer Julian Röpke talks about the 76th Guards Air Assault Division of the Russian Armed Forces, known as the "Pskov Division," BILD reports. On Wednesday night, drones attacked its airbase near Pskov, destroying several Il-76 military transport aircraft carrying paratroopers.
As Röpke reminds us, it was the Pskov paratroopers, as the elite of the airborne forces, who were supposed to land at the Gostomel (Antonov) airport near Kyiv on February 24, 2022, and capture the capital. For this purpose, it was planned to use up to 16 Il-76 aircraft. The Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to defend the airport and then damaged the runway so that it became unusable for landing.
Then the Pskov paratroopers took part in the massacre in Bucha, as evidenced by the ammunition boxes found there. Currently, the 76th Division is fighting heavy battles on the Zaporizhzhya front, where they were transferred from Donbas.
