Ukraine's Navy announced today that it has established new routes for civilian merchant ships in the Black Sea, noting that a threat from Russia is not excluded. Oleh Chalyk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy Command, explained the work of this "humanitarian corridor," Reuters reports.

Chalyk said that this corridor is intended for civilian merchant ships that were blocked in Ukrainian ports of the Black Sea, as well as for the transportation of agricultural products and grain.

"A new temporary humanitarian corridor has been launched today. The corridor will be very transparent, we will put cameras on the ships and broadcast it to show that this is a purely humanitarian mission and has no military purpose," the navy spokesman emphasized.
