In its decision of August 9, 2023, the Economic Court of Kyiv considers it legal to terminate the contract, which was previously concluded between the UOC MP monastery and the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra National Reserve. The press service of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine shared information about this decision.
"The Economic Court of Kyiv recognized the termination of the contract of free use concluded between the Holy Dormition Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (Monastery) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the National Reserve "Kyiv Pechersk Lavra" as legal," the Ministry notes.
The ministry emphasizes that by this decision, the Kyiv Economic Court refused to satisfy the claims of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (Monastery) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The Ministry also emphasizes that this religious organization sought to continue using religious buildings and other state property.
The agency reminds that the inspection revealed violations of the contract concluded between the UOC MP and the reserve, which became the basis for its termination.
It is important to note that the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra National Reserve terminated the lease agreement with the UOC MP monastery on March 29. The termination of this agreement was provided by the terms and conditions stipulated in it.
