Under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the deputy mayor of one of the cities of the Lviv region and the director of the utility company were exposed and notified of the suspicion. Both are charged with extorting and receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspects demanded a "kickback" from a private entrepreneur. He was engaged in the supply of sand to the order of a utility company under the control of the city council.
The officials promised to assist in fulfilling the terms of the concluded contract and in paying for the delivered sand. And also not to create artificial requirements regarding the color and quality of sand, which were not actually stipulated in the contract.
In total, the officials received 42,000 hryvnias of illegal profit from the entrepreneur - 21,000 hryvnias each.
Both were detained while receiving a previously agreed part of the illegal benefit.
The issue of choosing preventive measures for detainees and removing them from their posts is being resolved.
